Text Formatting Cell

I have an XL2000 template set to use as an import into
Access 2000. I found that the comments in a cell would
truncate in Access after 255 characters so I changed the
cell format in the XL cell from General to Text. This
took care of the truncating problem but now the comments,
if over 255 characters, in the cell show as #####. This
is not a problem for the import but it is a major problem
for the user. Any ideas on how to fix the cell to show
the comments rather than #####?
