text formatting

O

Oliver

Microsoft Project 98: When in the tracking Gantt view I
cannot format text as I would like and get the message:

"You have exceeded the maximum number of cells that can
directly be formatted in this view.
You can only directly format up to about 7500 cells in a
view.
Remove the direct formatting from one or more formatted
cells in this view, and then try again."

I am not sure entirely what is meant by direct formatting
so am not sure how to remove it. I have tried formatting
through the Format->Text Styles but always find that some
cells do not follow the order e.g. All, arial,regular,10
say - there are still some cells that remain whatever they
were before.

If anyone can help it would be much appreciated. This
clearly isn't rocket science but is spoiling my day as I
just want to print something out that doesn't have a
ridiculous looking ranges of font on it.

Thanks.

Hello Oliver,
What text are trying to format ?
Anyway, I guess that you used the Format / Bar... command which formats only
one task at a time !!! ... and which uses a lot of memory in your computer.
I think that now your mpp file is quite bloated .
You would have to use the Format / Bar style... dialog box which manage
systematic formats without any memory issue.
But, first of all, select all your tasks, and in the Format / Bar... dialog
box, click the Reset button !

Hope this help,
