Text is hiding on me.

When I insert a table in a blank document, nothing shows unless I hit the
"Show/Hide" button.

I don't have the Tools.options... Hidden button checked and I don't have
Hide gridlines checked.

This happens also when I try to view a post I've saved from a newsgroup - If
I save a post (like a top 100 from some era) I save it as a text file. I
can see it in Notepad. I can see it in Lotus Wordpro. However, it doesn't
show in Word unless I hit the Show/Hide button and then it has the space
marks in it plus the formatting.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Check your Normal Style - has it somehow got changed to use
Hidden text?

What about the 'Hidden' checkbox under Format - Font?

Do you have a faint line of dots underneath the text? That's how my
computer marks text that is formatted as hidden.

If that isn't it, you could try the usual 'recover from mysterious
problem' steps, i.e. rename Normal.dot, make sure there aren't any
strange add-ins in your Startup menu, etc. But I have no idea what,
other than the 'hidden' attribute of the font, would make text hide
like you describe.

HTH,

Sheer genius.
I checked the font under normal and it still didn't show hidden. I changed
Normal anyway to use Arial 11 just because it was there and up came
everything!!

I don't know why it was hidden when it certainly didn't show hidden but
changing it has fixed the problem.
Thanks
