text is in capitals with the caps lock off

Does anyone know why sometimes when typing the text is all
in uppercase even though the caps lock is off and I can't
turn this off. When you then put caps lock on, everything
is in lower case. Have tried using format menu>change
case, which works only for the highlighted text. It then
reverts back to the same old problem once starting to type
again. Any help solving this would be appreciated.

Are you sure the Shift Key is not stuck either through hardware or software?
When you run some applications, it gets the shift key stuck (the software
way).
