Text is only viewable if change to bold or italics, Office 2003

I have a user who can not read all of his e-mail (Outlook 2003). Some mail
shows up, but others are apparently blank. I can select all, copy and past
into another word. The page still appears to be blank, until I select all
and make it bold or italic. Even if I change font color or style, it is not
viewable until i make it bold.

Any advice on how/where to fix this?
