Text location marker missing

Upon opening a new document in Word 2007 (on Windows Vista) I cannot make my
cursor appear, type (although when i type, the word counter sayd words are
present), It will not allow me to do anything.

The only time I can get a properly functioning document is when I open an
already existing file.

I've already tried backing up and deleting registry for word (as suggested
my Windos troubleshooting guides), reinstalling the entire Office Suite, and
clicking the repair option on the Office installation dialogue box. None of
those work. I am upto date on all patches.

If you open Word in safe mode and it works correctly, it suggests a corrupt
normal.dotm. From Start ¦ Run, type in

winword /a

and press enter. Is everything OK now? If Yes, rename normal.dotm to
normal.bad and try Word normally again.
