Text moves to wrong text holder on reset layout PPT 2010?

We have a PPT 2010 template with layouts with an extra 'Footer text holder'.
When a slide is reset to another layout that has more text holders, the
footer text holder content is moved to the body text holder.

For instance, when a 'Title only' layout (with the extra Footer text holder
with content) is Reset to 'Title and Text', (also with the extra Footer
text holder on the layout) the footer text holder content has moved to the
body text holder and the footer text holder is empty?

How can we have the footer text holder content, remain in the footer text
holder and not move to another text holder?
