text orientation

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel Is there a way to orient the text vertically in a document? I'd like to print a card that only fits into the printer sideways, so in effect, I'd take the printed piece out and turn it 90 degrees to read it.

Yes, provided the text is all enclosed in a Text Box or a Table.

Tables are usually easier to control.

For something like a card, you may be better to do this in PowerPoint, which
is much more capable of rotating text.

Cheers

Another option is to use a WordArt Object, which can be rotated.

Like John suggested, though, Word really is not the best choice for this
type of layout work. It's designed to produce linear text documents despite
the array of toys which have been sprinkled into it over the years. This
sort of thing is best handled in a program which provides true page layout &
design capability.
