Text over an image?

If i insert a scanned image, say a blank timecard, into a document how do i
type or insert text over that image? I am wanting to do this as an easier
way of recording my time for work on a company timecard without being as
messy as it usually is as all the times are handwritten and gets very
cluttered at times.

You can have a borderless table aligned over your timecard, with as many
columns and rows as you need.
To ensure the image does not accidentily get moved you could anchor it to
the Header, see http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/AnchorToHeader.htm
remember, an image in or anchored to the header are always dimmed when
working in the document body and vice versa.
