text over Background

Hi,
Can someone help me as to how to make lext readable over a brigt
background.

I have chosen a background and trying to display some text over the
background. But the text is not readable properly. I also used the
transparency in powerpoitn but still the background looks more
prominent.

Can some suggest as to hwo to selecte background or use my background
and modify it such that text over tyhe background is easily readable.

In short my probelm is that currently my background seems to be more
prominent whereas I want my text to be more prominent.
