Text quality when copying from Excel into PowerPoint

I copy portions of Excel spreadsheets into PowerPoint slides and they look
fine until I run the slide show, and then the text changes into very thin,
jagged text which is unreadable at small sizes. When i close the slide show,
the text looks fine again.
