text rotation in Word Art (Word 97 SR2)

I'm having difficulty in rotating text created in a text
box in a Word document using the Drawing Toolbar. I can
prepare text with Word Art options and rotate the results,
but the text choices are limited and not the regular
choices on the drop down text selection menu. When I
select the text I want to rotate, the options under Draw
or free rotation are not available.

Text in text boxes can be rotated only 90 degrees right or left. Only
WordArt can be free-rotated. You might want to consider using Publisher, in
which ordinary text can be free-rotated.
