text selection problem

Sometimes when I am typing, I accidentally turn on a feature that highlights
a block of text from cursor to the end of the sentence when I only want to
place the cursor to insert something or to select a few key strokes for
formatting. I am not sure how this gets turned on and I have tried several
things to turn it off. I have looked at everything I can think of in the
help menus. The only thing that helps is turning off the computer and coming
back in. This usually happens when I am typing in Access in a form but it
has happened in Word too.

Any ideas?

Tools, Options, Edit, "Use smart paragraph selection"?? Or maybe you are
hitting F8 or Shift+End.
