Text shadow turns yellow at serif angles

I am using Office 2003 on a Windows XP. When I use shadow settings, in
black or any shade of gray at any value of transparency, in Screenshow,
there are yellow pixels showing up on the curves of my serif type.
Any idea what is causing this and how I might eliminate the problem?
I need the text to be editable in powerpoint.

Don't use transparency?

See if the shadow settings on the Drawing toolbar work any better than the
automatic text shadows on the Formatting toolbar?

Grab Keith Tromer's SoftShadows add-in?
