Text spacing changed when opening Visio 2000 diagram from Word 200

I made a nice system architecture drawing in a Word document, with text
boxes. When I came back later to edit the diagram, as soon as I open it in
Visio, the texts in the boxes stretches so that it wraps and looks awful and
some ends disappear altogether. Any suggestions or similar experience?
