Text Style

Steve

Hi, I'm familiar with the functionality of the text styles dialog. However,
since experimenting with text, summary tasks in my project no longer appear
in bold, although I can change font style, size, italic etc. I can change
selected summary tasks to bold using the bold button, but not using the text
styles dialog. In fact if, using text styles dialog, I select all text to
bold the tasks change to bold but summary tasks remain regular!
Is there a default reset somewhere please?

Thank you!

Hello Steve,

As you've discovered, when you manually change the formatting for a
selected task (such as selecting a summary task and removing the bold
format), changing the text style formatting does not restore the
individually formatted task.

There is not a default reset for text in Project, but you can replace
the view you have formatted with the default view from the global
template. This will restore the selected view back to the default
formatting, so you will lose *all* custom formatting to all text and
graphics.

Assuming you have changed the Gantt chart view: First, select another
view as you cannot replace a view currently in use. Then choose Tools
Organizer and click the Views tab. On the left you should see views
available in the Global.MPT file and on the right you should see the
views you have used in your current project. Select the Gantt Chart
view from the left (Global.MPT) list and click the Copy button. You
will see a prompt asking if you wish to replace the Gantt Chart view
in your project with the Gantt chart view from Global. Click Yes.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

But Julie, there is a way to reset the manual formatting... To reset the
text for a selected task and/or field, select Edit-Clear-Formats. To reset
the entire table, select the Gantt Chart table by clicking the box in the
upper left corner and then select Edit-Clear-Formats to remove manually
entered settings.

Jim,

Thanks so much for reminding me of the *much* easier answer! Steve,
sorry for the round about answer -- follow Jim's advice :)
