Text to appear on top of Video

I want to play a movie in the background, then on mouse clicks have
text appear over the top of the movie. So, for example, a movie showing
clouds in the sky and then words to songs would appear on top of them,
line by line.

I can get the movie to play, and words to appear, but the movie always
plays on top of the words, so that they can not be seen. I see the
words for a second, but then the video covers up the words.

Can this be done? Am I missing something?

I should add to the above, that I have tried moving the movie to the
back, behind the text, and it looks OK in normal view, but does not
work in slide show mode.

No, that can't be done. Any other objects will always appear behind a
playing video.

PPT always plays movies atop everything. Or more accurately, it doesn't play
movies at all, it uses whatever movie player's offered by the system and puts
an instance of it atop itself.
