Text to Speech

Using Office 2003 on Win XP Pro.

Cannot get Speech to read a Word document. In Word have gone to
Tools|Speech, this has bought up the language bar and having selected some
text I have then clicked on Speak BUT no talk! And yes, my speakers are
working.
