Text w. Word

I have a Pismo powerbook with OS 10.3 loaded. I just loaded Office
X. Some of my Word docs are showing and opening as Word docs, yet
some are showing and opening as Text docs (and they are Word docs).

How can I get them to all show and open as Word docs?

What is causing this?

Hi Ron,

First, try repairing permissions: Go to Macintosh
HD/Applications/Utilities. Open up Disk Utility. Select your hard disk,
then click the First Aid tab. Click the button to "Repair Disk
Permissions".

Next, have you fully updated Office X? You need the 10.1.2, 10.1.4
(includes 10.1.3) and 10.1.5 updaters. When you're done updating, repair
permissions again!

If you're still having problems, post back.

Actually, none of that should be necessary, nor is likely to be helpful,
Beth.

Just select one Word doc ending in ".doc", do a Get Info (cmd-I or
control-click and choose Get Info), select "Opens With", change to Word X,
and then click "Change All". That will do it.
