text will not print anymore, Powerpoint Mac 2004

I have had this happen to me twice now, and I have searched all over
for a solution. I have Office 2004 for the Mac, and have had no
problems printing from word, powerpoint, or excel in the past, but
then all of a sudden for no apparent reason, my text will not print
anymore. All images, drawings, etc. print out fine but any text on
the
same page just does not print.

This is the second time it's happened to me. The first time was on my
iMac G5 at home. I had no problems printing to my HP Deskjet printer
for about a week or two and then nothing but images or graphics will
print. The second time just happened to me today at work. I've been
able to print to the network printer (Xerox DocuColor 242) for the
past 8 weeks with no problems. And now the same thing is happening
again.

Work machine: Apple PowerPC Dual G4

Any suggestions?

I don't think it's coincidental that -- in a forum where we see the name
Xerox *rarely* -- it has now shown up in 2 postings within the same 90
minute time frame. And even if that is a coincidence, what is the liklihood
that they both would expressly involve a Xerox DocuColor 242? Methinks the
Xerox DC 242 driver may be in need of revision :) Have you checked the
Xerox support site for any banter on the issue as well as the availability
of a fix?

Hmm... I'll check there, but it's not just Xerox specific, cause I
have the same problem with my HP Deskjet at home (which occurred
almost two years ago, and I haven't fixed it yet). Mainly because I
don't use the iMac as much as my PCs. Thanks for pointing me in a
direction though.

Well, not pointing fingers at HP - in fact, I like their printers - but HP
is notorious for driver issues on the Mac side. I definitely wouldn't rule
that out. Updates for OS X, printers & Office need to be kept current.

It could also may be a font issue. Use the Apple app called Font Book to
validate your fonts & check for duplications. HPs in particular are also
rather finicky about fonts as is the Mac environment in general.

Good Ideas, I'll check those using the Font Book. I just think it's
odd that it would work fine for so long and then just stop working.
I'm pretty sure that I am using the same fonts as before. Typically I
just use the default fonts like Arial, and Times New Roman. Oh, and I
printed this morning here at work and it's working fine again, but
still no luck at home.

Thank you,
