text with character styles

Is there a simple way to get a tagged version of a line of text that has
character styles applied?

For example, lets assume in the Word document is a paragraph containing the
words "this is my text", and the word "text" is bolded.

What I would like to get is this: "this is my <b>text</b>"

If possible I would like to avoid parsing through the character styles of
each word in the text.

Thank You,
Johannes Stuermer

Thanks for the suggestion. It turns out I can use the "search and replace"
method to accomplish this.
