Text won't show within textbox

Susan

I'm drawing concentric circles in word, and I want to label each one with a
word or two. When I insert the text box and try to type the copy within it, I
can't see the copy. I don't know if it's hidden, or layered incorrectly or
what, but it isn't showing up. TIA!

You can select the autoshape that you can actually see, and then, on
the Drawing toolbar, click Draw | Order | Bring to back. This makes it
possible to add text to the others. (Repeat the procedure as needed to
access other "hidden" shapes.)

Note also that if all shapes should be visible in Word, you will have
to do the following: On the Drawing toolbar, click the Select Objects
button. Now, you can hold the left mouse button and "drag a square"
around the shapes to select them all. Then set the "Fill Color" to "No
fill" in Format | AutoShape, Colors and Lines tab. When you are done,
click the Select Objects button again to turn the selection feature
off.

Have you checked to be certain that the font color is not set to White or
the same as the Fill Color of the circles?

It may also be easier to keep the circles separated

until complete, then select them all as Stefan suggests and use the
Draw>Align command to arrange them.

Does the line show if you choose File | Print Preview? If not, it
could be that text boundaries is turned on. Turn them off in Tools |
Options, View tab.

If it is a text box border, you can remove it in Format | Text Box,
Lines and Colors tab. For "Color," choose "No line."
