text wraps 4 inches in word processing

I don't know what I'm doing so I'm sorry if I did it wrong. I searched
your FAQs for wordwrap. Please tell me what else to do. I nver
subscribed to a group before, Sorry if I'm breaking some rule.

I have a horrible problem. I'm using word97 and I've been very happy
with it. Just ordinary word processing, no graphics or pics. And
suddenly the right 1/2 inch is off the screen, and when I type into it,
the text jumps about 4 inches, so the word I'm typing is in the center
of the screen and I can't see the left margin by 4 inches. If I keep
typing, after a while it jumps back and I lose the right most text
again. It prints fine. I'm in the template "normal.dot" and I don't
think I've made any changes that would affect it.

What is your View | Zoom setting?

wow, thanks. I still have the problem but now I'm not alone withi it.

zoom is 100%. the problem occurs in view: normal, view: page layout
and in file: page setup. I updated my McAfee and ran it, and reloaded
Word97.

when I say the text moves to the left, I mean the whole document, the
left half of it is off the screen. my margins are set at 1".

file: new: blank document was ok the first time I called it up, it's
bad now. So are three other templates I created trying to solve this
problem, two of which worked fine the first time I called them up (ten
minutes ago) but they're all bad now.

I didn't save them, they went bad just by being opened.
