In my "My Documents" folder I have some old pre-Microsoft (2000-2002?) era
WordPerfect docs that are now identified in blue text. Some extremely
important info, e.g., resumes and personal official papers, in those docs
that I can no longer access.

I am receiving the following Microsoft msg: "The selected text converter is
an old version which does not work with the current (Microsoft Office Word
2003) version of Word. Reinstall the converter and try again."

Thus far, I have been unable to locate the required converter, and need
assistance ASAP, because I am applying for several jobs, and cannot locate
some of the vital information I know is incorporated in the data I can no
longer access in "My Documents". I would definitely appreciate whatever
assistance anyone has to offer.

With the NTFS disk file system with Windows XP or Vista, the blue color
indicates that the file has been compressed because of infrequent use. Not a
problem.

With respect to Word Perfect converts have you checked:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word/HP052742911033.aspx

You may also want to Google for Word Perfect converters. There are a number
of options if the Micosoft converter does not work.
