Textbox in template loses format

Sorry if this is not the right group, but "pagelayout" does seem to be the
problem here.

My issue is I have a document template that contains a textbox created from
the Drawing toolbar. Within that textbox ( a legend ) I want some
paragraphs centered, and others left justified. I've done this with and
without Styles with the same result: when a new document is created from the
template, all paragraphs are centre justified.

Is there something (short of VBA) I can do to "lock" the formatting in the
textbox?
