Textbox Transparency Trouble

I have a textbox placed over several pictures. I have the background set to
fill effect from center (one colour - white) the transparency of the fill
effect is 70 to 100%, and for the whole textbox it's set at 70%. But when I
go to the print preview or try to print this, the textbox is a big white
square!!! How can I keep my effect and print this?

Publisher sorely lacks transparency support. A workaround, after you have
applied your transparency preferences, Right-click the text box, save as
picture. Either .gif or .png. You will have a choice of resolutions. Insert back
into your document.
