Using PP 2007.
So, once you re-define the default text box in an exisiting
presentation,
thereafter, any new text boxes you create within that file should
adhere
to
these re-defined default's settings...right?
This is not happening for a coworker (he continues to get the white
text).
Any ideas on what is happening?
:
If you want this to happen on new, blank presentations, you must set
the
textbox default on the blank template. Once you've "set autoshape
default,"
here's how to save those changes to the template:
Create a default "blank" presentation with your own defaults
http://www.pptfaq.com/FAQ00245.htm
You have to set autoshapes defaults in each file, though, for any
existing
files. Unfortunately, they won't pick up some magic "set default"
setting
that happens after they were created.
(Although that would be
pretty
helpful at times!)

thanks John. I use 2003. I see what you mean & clicking "set
autoshape
default" does reset the textbox default - but only for this file. I
guess
that's the best I can hope for? it's better than not resetting at
all.
:
As David says the version is very important here! If you have 2007
then
you're good to go. In earlier versions though if you do the logical
thing
Insert a textbox > set the font > Right click > No Set Default
Textbox
visible but "Set Autoshape defaults" looks good. Select it and it
seems
to
work fine the next textbox will have your new font. Here's the
catch
when
you
insert a SHAPE next it will have the fill and line of the textbox
ie
probably
none!
In earlier version insert a SHAPE add some text and change the font
then
set
the Autoshape defaults. TextBoxes will still have no fill.
