Textured Background will not convert to PDF

I have a multipage document that I have worked on and placed it on a colored/textured background.
However, before distributing the document I need to save it as a pdf, but when I do the background does not appear and the layout is on a plain white background.
Am I missing something to make my texturized background appear on the pdf?
Thanks for you help.

The background inserted using Format/Background is designed for display
during editing only, not printing. Since creating a PDF is a form of
printing, the background won't display in the PDF.

To print a background, insert a graphic watermark.

Thanks,
That does work and it looks great, however the inserted watermark graphic that I am using for a textured background is cut off after the footer of the page so that the rest of the page shows up white.
It looks really bad. Is there an easy fix for this so that the watermark graphic is fluent throughout the entire page?
Thanks Again!

What you're "missing" is that the Format> Background options are intended
for on-screen viewing & web pages - by default they do not print, so they
aren't included in PDF output either.

You can use Word> Preferences> Print to select the Include Background Colors
& Images option, but there's no guarantee that the finished product will
turn out as you'd like. Most of the built-in Textures & other effects are
insufficient resolution for printed output and it may not apply to the edge
of the page on 1 or more sides.

Word's internal Print Preview may still not show the Background but when you
go to the Print dialog the background will be visible.

Following on from Bob's comment: if having a background colour is very
important, you could import the document into Apple's Pages application, do
what you want then save it as a PDF (or print it).
