"you don't give us enough information to be able to give
you any kind of meaningful answer."
What OS are you using? MSXP
Is your Internet connection working for other tasks
(surfing the web). YES; INTERNET CONNECTION WORKING FINE
Do you have dial-up or broadband? INTERNET VIA CABLE MODEM
Do you run a home network or is this a stand-alone
machine. HOME NETWORK; TWO MACHINES WITH ROUTER
Were you ever able to send/receive mail? YES! AND I CAN
STILL SEND/RECEIVE USING A WEB-BASED E-MAIL SVC.
Have you changed your settings recently? DON'T THINK SO.
Have you checked your smtp/pop settings & password to
ensure they are correct? I KNOW HOW TO LOOK AT THOSE
SETTINGS, BUT I DON'T UNDERSTAND THEM, AND DON'T KNOW
WHAT IS CORRECT.
DON'T KNOW WHAT THE MKBL IS! DON'T KNOW WHAT GOOGLE
GROUPS ARE. I FULLY APPRECIATE HOW FRUSTRATING THESE
KINDS OF QUESTIONS MUST BE, BUT FOR SOME OF US, WE JUST
DON'T KNOW ANY BETTER WAY. I WOULD RECOMMEND THAT
MICROSOFT, OR SOMEONE, CONSIDER (IF THEY DON'T ALREADY)
OFFERING A PROGRESSIVE LEVEL OF HELP AIDS.
Oh, the problem: In Outlook 2002, when I click
the "send/receive" button, I get an error message dialog
box that says "The Operation Failed." That's it! Can go
no further.
THANKS FOR ANSWERING; THANKS FOR TRYING!
Brian
Did you try searching the Microsoft Knowledge Base
Library or
google.groups.com?
A quick search of google.groups
(microsoft.public.outlook) yielded over
4,000 hits.
Searching the MSKB yields at least 25 hits.
Sometimes, we just get tired of repeating answers that a
little research on
the poster's part would have found with some legwork.
