Thanks so very much for your help!! With your hints, I
have been able to reformat the document so that the
outline auto paragraph numbering, X-referencing and the
TOC work together. The switch using the Shift F9 worked
brilliantly. After a month of banging my head against the
wall trying to get it this document to work, I'm thrilled
to have it behind me.
