That pesky 2.75" margin problem

Mary Ferrari

We are on a network (but WORD is on each of our C
drives). We have just recently begun using WORD 2002 on
Windows XP. Even for people using the same printer (in
one case an HP8100), one of us has the margin-changing-to-
2.75" problem while another person does not have that
problem with that very same file. I saw articles about
workarounds. Changing the left indents on a file would
work for one person but would make problems for the person
who was not having a problem. Then I saw the post about
the beta drivers from HP but I also saw the paragraph that
said that HP would not support printers with these beta
drivers installed, so I know our tech people would not go
for it.

Something that works for me and the other person for just
the 2 (landscape) files we are having problems with is
FILE, PAGE SETUP, PAPER tab, PRINT OPTIONS button, then
unchecking the ALLOW A4/LETTER PAPER RESIZING box, which I
later realized you could do through TOOLS, 0PTIONS.
However, this affects not just this document but others
until you set it back. We can easily use my solution and
then change it back immediately after printing. But my
question is: will unchecking this box cause other
problems or can I just leave it that way all of the time?
I'm just waiting for another problem.
