"The address of this site is not valid"

When an Excel spreadsheet which contains an hyperlink to file on the same
server is opened we get the following message " the address of this site is
not valid. Check the address and try again."

According to article id 890474 this problem is resolved by applying sp2 for
office. We have applied the sp2 but the problem still exists. Does anyone
have a solution to resolve this problem?
