the apostrophe

When I use the(') in word it spaces out at least two letters away. When I
backspace it delete the word and I cannot seems to fix this problem. My
apostrophe is making my reports look terrible. Please help!!!!

What font are you using? Have you tried using a different font to see if the
results are different?
