The application "Word" could not be launched

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Power PC

I cannot open any of my word files- when i do this message comes up.
what can i do to remedy this problem.

Try re-applying the latest combo update for your operating system.

If that doesn't fix it (and it probably won't) then run the Remove Office
utility from your CD.

Then re-install and re-apply all the updates.

The error indicates that one combining of your software is missing or at the
wrong version.

CarbonLib is part of OS X, but I suspect that it's the call to CarbonLib
that is wrong, and that comes from Office.
