"The Application Word has unexpectedly quit"

I am presently using a Powerbook G4 500 and have recently updated
my OS to 10.2.8

However, when opening Word I am getting and error message, "The
Application Word has unexpectedly quit".

I have subsequently re-installed Office from scratch and updated to
Office 10.1.5, but with no success.

I suspect the problem may be with a rogue font, but have no ideas as
to how to rectify the situation if it is.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Stephen,

A rogue font is a likely suspect. See here:

Also, be sure to repair disk permissions (whenever installing software): Go
to Macintosh HD/Applications/Utilities. Open up Disk Utility. Select
your hard disk, then click the First Aid tab. Click the button to "Repair
Disk Permissions".
