The bug about cinema display (30'') is still here

R

rosco

I've read some messages from 2006, talking about a bug affecting the
display on a cinema 30'' monitor. All I can say is that the bug still
here. We've just bought a 30'' display and the result is that we cannot
open a ppt file and display it normally in a slideshow.

So what do we do now ? Wait until a fix is announced ? Some people are
waiting this fix for more than a year!

thanks,

Rosco

Hi rosco,

I'm really lazy. May I ask you to describe the symptoms of this bug?

Thanks.

Hi Rosco,

I suffered from this bug, but it has gone away since awhile. I do not
know of anything that I did to assist in that, other than upgrading
Office to the latest updates whenever they appeared. I can confirm
however that my PowerPoint files are displaying as they should on a
30" display...

In fact, you can open a ppt file and work on it. But as soon as you
run the slideshow, it looks like the slide starts drawing from the
middle of the screen (vertically). Then the top half of the screen is
filled with the bottom of the slide.

The 30'' cinema display requires a dual-link dvi connection at it's
native resolution of 2580. Could it be the cause of the problem ?
dual-link incompatibility ?

macosx is up to date. office is 11.3.8 and powerpoint is 11.3.5
(updated automatically)

Hi Rosco,

Then you've got me stumped. I thought all of the 30" display issues were
fixed in a previous update.

If you ever find the source of this bug, let me know. Because even after
a full reinstall of office 2004 and a full update, the bug is still present.

Thanks,

Hi Rosco,

A simple re-install does not remove any of the old stuff that could be bad.
You have to use the Remove Office tool and then do the reinstall.

Yes, that's what I did. A full uninstall followed by a standard install
and update. I've used the included tool to remove all the office
components. I've also removed the preferences folder to be sure that
nothing survived.

But the bug persists.

By the way, someone knows which update is supposed to solve this problem
? I've found no mention of this in the release notes.

When presenting PowerPoint on a Cinema 30" Display the slides are displayed incorrectly. The bottom half appears on top and vise versa.

This is a very old bug and still there!!
Please look into this.

My specs:
PowerBook G4 17" with Mac OS X (10.4.11), Office 2004 (11.4)

Along the way they once had it fixed, can't remember the version but then it came back again and has stayed including the latest 11.4 update.
