The characters box pops up when starting Entourage 2004

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: pop

I have recently updated Microsoft Office on my Intel iMac. I am not sure if the problem I have is related to the update. When I open the Entourage application the 'Characters' window opens up. This has never happened before.

Does anyone know how to stop this?
