The clipart I put in my Publisher document has disappeared! Why?

We put together a calendar with lots of clip art inserted in each month. Even
though we have made numerous changes to it throughout the year, the clip art
pictures have always stayed in place....until today. Suddenly, when I opened
the document, they were all gone, except for the last two clip art items I
added. When I went back into the document several minutes later, even those
last two were gone. (??) How do I get the pictures back? I believe they are
still there, but just hidden behind a layer or something similar to this.
Help?
