The data file was not closed down properly

I am running Office 2007 and recently upgraded to Windows 7. Ever since I
have upgraded (I think) I am getting the error 'The data file was not closed
properly. Checking for problems'. This eventually resolves itself.

I know that I have closed it down correctly.

Any suggestions? I have checked the Add-Ins, and the only ones that are
left weem to be official MS ones

Yes I am - I have an iPhone that is running a calendar app that synchronises
with Outlook. Do you see this happening?

I will disable it and then experiment

Are you syncing with a smartphone or ipod? Using any software that accesses
outlook data, like desktop gadgets?

Yes, it’s the iphone sync that causes it. Make sure you have the latest
updates installed for your version of Outlook. Generally speaking, its more
annoying than anything - its rare for it to cause data loss.

Further to the above, I have now removed all Add-Ins, and other apps that may
try to access the mail, that I can. There are a number of Add Ins that will
not allow me to disable them (Microsoft Office Groove Proxy for Outlook,
Microsoft Outlook Mobile Service, Microsoft VBA for Outlook Add-In, OneNote
Notes about Outlook Items, Outlook Change Notifier, Send to Bluetooth and
Windows Search Email Indexer). Do I need to try to disable these? If so,
how?

Outlook still claims that the file was not closed down properly the last
time it was used and goes into a long review process before ending that
process. I can use it while it is carrying out the review (two cog wheels
appear in the bottom right of the screen)

What do I do next?
