The document 'name' caused a serious error the last time it was op

I am using word2003. Word can not open a word document file (it hang there
and need to close it). After that whenever I try to open again I got below
error.

"The document 'Filename' caused a serious error the last time it was opened
..Would you like to continue opening it?"

choosing yes also caused Word application to hang.

I removed the filename from HELP\ABOUT MICROSOFT WORD\DISABLED ITEMS. (as
per KB286017)
still, same problem persist.

The same document can be opened with no problem on other machines. There are
no difference in machine/application/OS configuration and user permission to
the documents.

It also can be opened via wordpad without any problem/corruption on my
machine.

I tried opening in user initiated safe mode (winword /safe) also and still
hangs. No problem accessing other word documents.

Rename the file / save as new file in another machine also produce same
result in my machine.

What happens if you start Word with the /a switch (instead of /safe)?

Did this ever get resolved? Did this work for y'all? Because I'm having the
same problem.
