The Document Name or Path is not valid ..but file opens

All word files open through word 2000 file/open, but if
you double click on the icon the error the document name
or path is not valid. I created a file with two
word "test file" in the body of the file and still this
error is encountered. The problem is simular to KB
article 224016.

Hi Mike,

It sounds like the file association needs to be recreated. Go to Start/Run and run:

winword /r

Note the space before the forward slash.
