I sincerely hope you also have the file stored somewhere other than the
floppy disk.

If you navigate to My Computer or Windows Explorer and click on the floppy
drive icon, are any files seen? If so, what are the names? I'm checking
for temporary files that might be recoverable.

Do you know the approximate file size at the time it was last saved? If
so, what is it?

Suggestion:
Never use a floppy to work with Word documents. Copy the file from the
floppy to a directrory on the hard drive. Use the hard drive copy to open
in Word and do your work. Save back to the hard drive. Wgen finished, copy
the file back to the floppy.

Suggestion 2:
Purchade a USB pen/thumb drive. It's really a memory stick with an USB
intrerface. Use it rather than the floppy.

Word will 'trash' files on a floppy under operating conditions that occurr
frequently when editing files.
