"The document name or path is not valid..."

A word doc I worked on yesterday, today cannot be opened
at all. I get a dialogue that says, "The document name or
path is not valid. Try these suggestions. Check the file
permissions for this document or drive. Use the File Open
dialog box to locate the document."

I've checked everything I know of about the file and all
properties and devices look OK. Are there any methods or
utilities I can use or run to get this file opened?

Help!!!!!
