the e-mail address defaults to one other than the one I selected

I want to send an e-mail. I type the name in the To:, the automatic contactlist appears, I put the cursor on the one I want to select but when I get ready to hit the send button I noticed that the e-mail address is not the one I selected. This started happening quite suddenly to both computers in my office.
This has resulted in several mails going out to the incorrect contact..by mistake.
A bit difficult to describe my issue. The only change is that our provider bumped up to a higher speed internet recently.
