The Expected Version of the Product Was Not Found On Your System?

I'm running Office XP at SP-1, and when I try to install
SP-2 or try to install the Access Runtime Update, I get
the same message, that the expected version of the
product was not found. I can't seem to install any
updates without this message popping up, and I need to
get the updates installed, seriously, like yesterday.
What do I do?
