the field <> does not exist

Hello,
I am importing an excel file into a project template.
In the template I have created a number of custom fields.
When importing I get to the screen where you pick the to and from fields.
And I pick a custom project field as the "to".
Sometimes I get the error:
the field <my field> does not exist
which seems so strang. since I picked it in the dropdown

anyone have experience with this?
thanks

What's the name of the field? I wouldn't be surprised if there were problems
importing data into Enterprise custom fields from Project Server.

I am only using MS Project 2007. No project server.
But are you saying that Project is trying to stop me from doing something
that could be bad if I was to import to Project server?
Are there chars, spaces, numbers that you should not use when creating field
names?
I could not find a list.
thanks

Okay, no project server, but what service pack and what field names are
rejected? For field names, letters numbers and spaces are safe.

Okay, so first thing to do is download the SP2 work pack and install. Does
this field import if you delete the colon?
