The file ?.doc is not available

When opening any existing word file, I got the
message "The ?.doc is not available.". When I exit Word,
the error is always: "The file Normal.dot already exists.
Do you want to replace the existing file."

I had removed the entire Office XP Pro installation, then
reinstalled. Word worked then, but when I install all the
Office updates from Microsoft site, the same problem came
back. It appeared that either the service packs or the
Word update after that caused the errors.

Any pointers would be much appreciated.

I have the same problem too!

I tried everything during the past 40 hours. Sometimes it
goes away, then it comes right back. VERY FRUSTRATING!
