The file [filename] is not available

When I try to open a word file, I get the message "The file [filename] is
not available." So, I can not open any word docs. Also, when I close down
Word I get the message "The file Normal.dot already exists. Do you want to
replace the existing file?"

I've clicked yes, I've clicked No and I've also deleted normal.dot.

Nothing helps.

This happens in Word 2003/Office 2003 Pro.
