The file is not available - No NAV

Hello,
I am receiving the message "The file [filename] is not available. I am
running Word 2007, SP1. I have never had NAV on this machine and have turned
off AVG. I have a paid version and it has been stable for nearly 2 years. I
have not installed new software in the time between normal function and the
error. I am unable to open any document (.rtf, .doc, .docx). I am also
unable to open these docs in Open Office.

Thanks for any help!
Dave

Are you able to open them using the Open dialog box in Word?

If you're unable to open the files in any program then that indicates a
third-party conflict, most likely your antivirus program. Even though you
indicated you don't have NAV installed, did you search for OfficeAV.dll
(using the Windows Search Companion -- not Windows Desktop Search) to verify
you don't have the dll?

Also, even though you have AVG turned off their plug-in could still be
active (as in the case of Norton). I don't use AVG but try going to
Add/Remove Programs and in the AVG setup see if there's an option for their
Office Plug-in.
