The format of the Gantt View is different when emailed

When emailing a project file (MPP 2000) as an attachment, the recipient's
view is not the same as what i sent. e.g. my gantt view shows all columns
(task name, etc.) but recipient view shows just 2 columns and the rest of
their view is the progress bars on the right.

How do i set the recipient's view be the same as mine when they open the file?

Hello jibjab8,

I'm not sure you'll ever be able to get it to match 100%. I imagine
differences in screen size as well as screen resolution may account
for some of the trouble. Can the user just drag the vertical split
further to the right to see more fields in the table?

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

you're right. they must drag the verical split to the right to see all the
columns. its just that the recipients are not Microsoft Project astute and i
would like them to see just what i send w/o any manipulation. thanks for the
reply.

You're welcome jibjab8. I don't believe there is any guaranteed
way. Is it necessary to send them a "live" project file? I'd
suggest printing the view to a pdf file and sending that to them.
Particularly if they are not adept at Project, sending them a
Project file is most likely much more complicated than they need and
you want to send.

agreed. but here's the real rub. if i send the project file to a customer
(which they require) and it looks weird when opened, then they wonder why.
i'm thinking that there must be an option somewhere that says what the view
should be when the file is opened.

Jack,

The view will be the same (i.e. Gantt etc) but the particular way
the view appears can be changed depending upon screen size and
resolution. The file will always open in the view it was last saved
in. Other issues (like date format) also effect how column width
appear. If you customer requires the file in Project, I would
assume they are comfortable enough to make the minor adjustments as
needed.

I hope this helps.
